A New Day, our Adult Care Program offers a safe, loving and secure environment for the frail elderly who are physically or cognitively challenged. Each day we provide a program of structured activities to promote well-being through social and health related services. The program includes music, movement and pet therapy, brain games, exercise, creative art activities, discussion groups and outings in the community for those that are able. Program goals focus on enriching client’s lives, building upon their skills, knowledge and unique abilities and strengths. The ratio of staff to clients is 1:6 which provides a personal touch for our participants. We are licensed by ACHA.
Free transportation to and from the center is provided for those that qualify. A hot, kosher lunch is provided daily for a $4/day donation.
The participants who meet the criteria to attend through the State of Florida funding are asked for a minimum monthly donation of $50. Private pay option is available when space allows. An initial intake, medical clearance forms and an assessment are necessary to participate in the Adult Care Program.
This program is funded by the State of Florida General Revenue funds through the Department of Elder Affairs and the Aging & Disability Resource Center/Area Agency on Aging. Additional funding is provided by the Jewish Federation of Broward County. Even with this funding, there are considerable costs associated with this program and the Meyerhoff Center continues to seek additional funding through individuals, corporations and foundations.
